Why We Always Try to Evict Wasps Without Pesticides (And Why It Matters)

If you’ve ever found a wasp nest tucked into the eaves of your house or discovered yellow jackets buzzing around your deck, your first instinct was probably to grab a can of chemical spray. It’s the standard approach for a reason — it’s fast.

But at Wild Bee Company, we take a different route first.

Our primary goal is always pesticide-free removal.

Here is a look at why we prioritize keeping chemicals out of the process, and how we actually pull it off.

The Problem with the Spray Can

While chemical sprays are highly effective at neutralizing a threat, they aren't without their drawbacks. When you spray a nest, those chemicals don't just disappear. They can drift into your garden, seep into the surrounding soil, and potentially affect non-target insects—including the vital pollinators we work so hard to protect, like honeybees and bumblebees.

           How We Do It Pesticide-Free

Removing an active, aggressive colony without chemicals requires a bit more finesse than simply spraying it down.

            Pinpoint Accuracy:

We don't guess where the nest is. We use advanced

            infrared technology

to locate the exact center of the colony, even when it's hidden behind drywall or siding.

            Surgical Extraction:

Once we know exactly where they are, we carefully access the area and physically remove the nest and the insects.

            Seamless Repair:

Because our founder, Keith, is a trained carpenter, any access holes we need to create to get to the nest can be repaired on the spot, leaving your home exactly as we found it (just without the stinging insects).

           When Chemicals Are Necessary

We are dedicated to environmental preservation, but we are also realists. While not using insecticides is always preferable, there are rare times when the responsible use of an insecticide proves to be the safest, most effective, or only option to protect a home and its residents. That is why Keith is fully certified as a licensed pesticide applicator through the Washington Department of Agriculture—so that if chemicals must be used, they are applied with strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
